How To Access My Firewall On Windows 7

If a Firewall on your reckoner is active, it may exist rejecting the necessary network connection needed for the network operations such equally network printing, network scanning or network PC-Faxing. In this example, Brother recommends you either disable the Firewall on your estimator whenever you apply a network feature, or go out the Firewall enabled and adapt the settings.

  • To disable the Firewall (See Option 1)

OPTION i: DISABLE THE FIREWALL SETTINGS

For personal Firewall Software users:


(For example, Blackice, Norton Internet Security, Tiny Personal Firewall, Zone Alarm, Sygate and McAfee.)

For Windows 7 Firewall users:

NOTE: If the User Account Control screen appears, type an administrator username and password and click YES.


1.  First check your network location.

a. Click the Start => Control Panel => System and Security => Windows Firewall => Network and Sharing Center.

b. Check your network location which is shown in the View your active networks section.

2. Disable the Firewall settings.

a. Click the Kickoff push => Control Panel => Organization and Security => Windows Firewall => Turn Windows Firewall on or off.

b. Cull Turn off Windows Firewall (non recommended) for your network location, and click OK.

NOTE: If you disabled your Firewall, yous volition need to re-enable it after a network performance.

For instructions on how to re-enable a Software Manufacturer Firewall, refer to your user's guide or contact the software manufacturer.

For Windows 7 Firewall users, follow the instructions in STEP 1 and select Turn On Windows Firewall (recommended) to re-enable the Firewall.

Option 2: LEAVE THE FIREWALL ENABLED AND ADJUST THE SETTINGS

For personal Firewall Software users:
(Ex: Blackice, Norton Internet Security, Tiny Personal Firewall, Zone Warning, Sygate and McAfee.)
For instructions on how to configure the settings properly for this type of program, please refer to the user's guide for your software or contact the software manufacturer.

For Windows 7 Firewall users:


Note: If the User Business relationship Command screen appears, type an administrator username and password and click YES.

one. First check your network location.

a. Click the Start => Control Console => Arrangement and Security => Windows Firewall => Network and Sharing Center.

b. Check your network location which is shown in the View your active networks section.

2. Add together the ports:

- 54925 for Network Scanning

- 54926 for PC-Fax Receiving

a. Click the Start => Control Panel => System and Security => Windows Firewall => Advanced Settings.

b. Click Inbound Rules.

c. Click New Rule....

d. Choose Port and click Side by side.

due east. Choose UDP, Specific local ports and enter 54925 or 54926 (depending on which port you are entering) in the box. Then click NEXT.

f. Choose Allow the connection and click NEXT.

g. Cheque the contour for your network location and click Next.

h. Enter whatsoever description in the Name box, for example 'Blood brother NetScan', and click Finish.

i. Make sure that the new setting is added.

iii.  Close the Windows Firewall with Advanced Security screen.

4.  If you nonetheless have trouble with your network connection such as network scanning or printing,

a. Click the Outset button => Control Panel => System and Security => Windows Firewall => Allow a program or feature through Windows Firewall.
